Previous Challenge Entry (Level 1 – Beginner)
Topic: Vision (08/03/06)
"Come on, honey, you can do it. One, two, three, four......" The familiar voice crooned in my ear as I struggled to endure the most challenging moments in my entire life. Sweat ran down my face in, what seemed to be, tiny rivers, soaking the neckline of the hospital gown I wore. My breath left my lungs in a powerful whoosh and I sucked in another lung full, holding it until the urge to push left and I was once again laying limp and exhausted in the sweat damp bed, breathing like I‘d just run a marathon.

"You're doing great, honey." My husband said softly as he wiped my face with a cool cloth. In that moment I wanted to hate him and love him at the same time because he was getting all the benefits of this arrangement but none of the pain. I knew, however, when I looked into his eyes, that he would have done anything for me if he could have. He hated seeing me in such agony. If it had been possible, he would have endured this for me, but this was my hurdle to overcome, my joyous torture to withstand, and it would be me that would come out stronger for it on the other side.

Another wave of pain washed over me and the doctor instructed me to push with everything I had in me, so I did. I pushed until I didn't think I had another ounce of strength left and just when I was at the very end of myself, it was over. Something gave and a moment later the room was filled with the sweet sound of my newborn son's cries as he took his first breaths. It was in that moment that my most important job began. In that moment, everything I‘d dreamed for my future was no longer a dream or a vision, but a reality. It was what my whole life before now had been building up to and now my real life was beginning.

Very touching...especially for me. I'll be giving birth to a baby girl very soon and I can only invision what a beautiful and tender moment that will be. I've dreamt about it from time to time...and I cannot wait to hold in my arms...that which the Lord is giving me.

I think you might have been thinking something close to what Jesus said in John 16:21. It is a great story, an emotionally charged story, but I wonder why your husband got mentioned but the child didn't. That was a little unusual (but I didn't mind it).
