Who am I? Isn’t this one of the biggest questions of our age? We constantly hear of people who are trying to find themselves. In doing so, they take off for far-flung places; often exotic places, where they hope to “find themselves”. But do they? And if they do, what is it they find? What is it they are looking for? Connected to this “finding ourselves” syndrome, is also what is commonly called the mid-life crisis. This too, seems to be such a common occurrence that if we don’t go through it, we’re sometimes called weird, abnormal, or even worse names. It seems to be the time in our lives when we are the most unsettled. It seems to be the time when we are reflecting on our life thus far & at the same time, looking ahead to see what our future might hold for us, all being well, that is.

But what is it that is driving this phenomenon? And is it limited to this age? Or is it something that has dogged mankind through the ages?

“Yes! These are tough questions” but aren’t they also the questions that comes to each of us, at one time or another? And so what is the answer? Or, rather, where is the answer?

I believe that the answer lies not so much in discovering “who am I?”; but rather “to whom do I belong?” Once we discover the truth of this question, I believe that a lot of our questions are answered; or at least, we are on the road to discovering the truth of these heart-felt questions. After all, isn’t it our soul, deep within us, that is challenging us to make this discovery?

Excellent points - but I would expand upon the "answer" more - there is so much to say about "to whom we belong." This has wonderful potential!

An excellent question, and an excellent summarization. The point is well taken,and gave me food for thought; even though I have not been one of those groups that keep searching for themselves. However, I liked this "Short Sweet and to the Point" entry. Very Much!
