David says it - The realization that my experience and my growth into greatness is not by my own hand, but by the hand of God – the gentle hand of God. Gentleness connotes an attention to the most intimate and often forgotten details to a rushed, hurried hand. God’s hand takes makes certain that deliberate care is taken – the way one would handle a flower’s petal, a newborn’s head or a two thousand and six year old manuscript.
I wonder at how he does it. How such a powerful and great God – invincible and mighty, is able to turn over to my life and take such gentle care of it. How he is able to, on one hand, bring mighty kingdoms to their knees, level strongholds in my life, fight my battles and yours and still, on the other hand, he can gently caress the hurting places of my life, he can massage the rocky places straight with just a word.
What a great God we serve.
