For two weeks I had waited, then the big day came 7am. Monday January 10, 2005, I could hardly wait to rush to my computer and go to the web site “ Faith Writers. Com”, I had only joined the site about two or three weeks before the holiday break, and I had only submitted two articles in “The writer’s challenge”. I had even checked the site several times during the holidays just to be sure that they had not sneaked a “ challenge” in on me. But alas it was to no avail the site was on vacation so there was nothing I could do but set at my keyboard and wait. While waiting, the thought had occurred to me just what the subject of the first challenge might be. In fact I even contemplated writing out some short stories, in hopes I would get lucky and hit on the subject. Perhaps “ New beginnings” that might be a good theme, seeing it would be the start of a New Year, or “ resolutions”, another sure thing for the time of the year. I thought about subjects with great spiritual insight, or depth, “ Returning to Christ, Our First Love”, or “ Over Abounding Grace for the New Year”, now there would be two great challenges, but still the only thing I could really do was just wait. Aha, now there was a thought “ Patience” or “ Waiting on The Lord”, again good thoughts but no guarantees that the first challenge would be either one of those. No, it was no use, again I must just wait, and be ready, so that when that day came I would be fresh and up for the challenge, no matter what the topic might be. And now it was here, the day I had waited for, as I set down in at my desk and pushed the button on my computer, I could hardly wait for the electric current to travel through all those circuits and chips, or whatever else is inside a computer. Findlay the screen in front of me came to life, first just flashes of light, then sign on information, a web page welcoming me to the internet, with the stroke of a key a pull down menu with my favorites list, then a click of a mouse and the web page appeared “ Faith Writer’s Home page”! With just a few more entries, I had signed on and then with just a simple click of that mouse again I was there the first topic of “ The Writer’s Challenge” was First [as in original]. Now here I sit, with that most dreaded sickness a writer can have, “Writer’s block”, and without an original thought in my head!
