That is whatever person should desire in accepting a relationship with Jesus Christ. He is the author of peace, and if a person wants a piece of the peace action he or she must bury the self and turn total control of his or her life over to Christ.
I had no clue what it meant to have a personal peace. I have experienced multi-traumas in my life; I kept it all to myself and "played church" most of my life. It wasn't until 2002 that I began to attend a church that the senior pastor and all the lay people continued to speak of the peace that comes with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
I lived through over forty years of my life not knowing it was necessary to have a personal relationship with Christ.
Two decades passed and I was able to suppress all the trauma hurts; then a sudden separation and divorce from my husband left me alone and scared.
I did not experience much personal peace; however, when I was left alone to raise my 14 year-old son I could no longer suppress the pain, the memories and the flashbacks.
Prayers of my new Christian family, my biological family and only God knows who else gave the opportunity for key people to be in the path of my life.
While on a float trip with my church family in June of 2002, I realized the only way I could find any peace in my life was through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
The senior pastor and a lay leader of the church immersed me in a waterfall in Tennessee and gradually, I began to experience what it is like to have personal peace made possible through the choice to accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.
Nothing has certainly been easy; however, moments of personal peace, nights of continuous sleep with less intense nightmares and flashbacks are becoming more and more common.
We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
