Yes, we are created for His praise! I liked your second verse especially. Excellent message and teaching here in these verses.

You might want to pick one aspect of purpose and focus in on it. This makes the poem come more easily, and narrowing down forces you to go deeper into your spirit to pull out a deeper way of saying the obvious, making the reader ponder instead of skim.

You did a creditable job forming rhymes; now you'll want to work on making them as tight rhythmically as possible, and watch for archaic expressions ("you did pay...A price that did ensure..."). Just let your word order flow more as you would naturally speak it.

You're on an excellent track! Good entry!

You have a heart for poetry, I see! That's the essential talent for writing good poems. I ran across a suggestion that I think is helpful in getting a poem's rhythm just right: sing a favorite hymn to get the meter marching in your head, then pattern your poem to match.
I start by counting syllables so my lines agree. Then, I read aloud to see if the accents from line to line also match. Poetry is more work, but it is such good discipline, and fun, besides, finding the one right word that says all you want to say. God bless your writing! Oh, and you might want to check the Poetry section on the Message Boards for more support.
