They had come to settle in the twin cities by the sea and life was good. Her days of herding cattle and sleeping out in the open were over. At least her family had a roof over their heads, unlike her husband’s relatives who were still living that life.
This was where she wanted to grow old and be buried. At least here was civilization.
She loved the little villa they owned. She had invested quite a bit of time and expense cultivating its gardens. Some of her neighbors would praise her for her talent. The rest would just be envious of her. It didn’t bug her one bit, so long as she got her due recognition. Indeed, she was so proud of it she even developed a habit of gazing towards its direction even if she were at the other side of town, just so that she could glimpse at it from another angle.

She simply could not understand how her husband had allowed these two strange men into her house without prior notice – throwing her into a frenzy to prepare the guest room and two additional servings for dinner.
And there was talk about leaving town for good.
“Over my dead body,” she said to herself as she was preparing dinner.
“Strange … ” she muttered under her breath. It seemed as if a crowd had gathered outside her house. “They had better not step on the flowers, or they’ll have me to deal with!”
Then came banging on the door.
“Lot, where are the men who came to you tonight? …”
