Like yours or mine, he’s bitter and distraught.
With affliction consuming our son’s spirit,
Strangles him, so familiar with the fear of it.
Schizophrenia is no joke and plays on his mind,
Pretend images and thinking, he tries to unwind.
His hope one day, he will be like you and I,
Wrenched inside, we know that’s a lie.
Too much anguish and too much pain,
Makes me want to wallow and abstain.
Abstain from the calls, the frustration of it all,
Crawl under the covers or climb the wall.
As our son cries himself to sleep each night,
He desires to be home again, be normal instead of fight.
Anger, threatening, thrashing around,
We know in our hearts he can’t be home-bound.
I want to escape and just start over,
Gathering flowers or sitting in the clover.
Gazing at the Sun and wondering why,
Feeling sorry for myself, as I stare at the sky.
Wrenched by anger and determination of love,
We fight on, stress in tow, with guidance from above.
Our child riddled with disabilities beyond his control,
We must defend him in court and bear our soul.
Services for him should be easier to get,
As we struggle in court for his needs to be met.
Our love runs deep and forever will be,
For our child…disabled, it’s plain to see.
We request only one thing, and this is the deal,
If it’s God’s will, please allow our son to be healed.

Good poem. You communicate your pain and love really well.
Have a little look at your meter - reading it aloud is the best way.
Thank you for being vulnerable.
