Topic: Inner Strength (04/20/06)
Where does my inner self reside and what is its strength? The very center of my being is measured by what exactly? Would it be measured by my capacity to love? And where or how could this be done? What if I never learned to love? What if no one cared enough about me? How would anyone judge what inner strengths if any, I possess?

My inner strength cannot be measured by mere mortals for they do not originate this life form of mine. My inner strength can only be measured in its entirety by the lover of lovers, ABBA – Father, creator of us all. If I am to be his child, than I am to have his strength and his capacity to love. I know this to be true in Christ, our Lord and Savior, for he showed me the way through his own life, death and resurrection. I know this to be true for even children that have not known love of parents, family or friends are quite capable of loving and sometimes even more purely than those who have grown surrounded by approval, affirmation and much care.

My inner strength can only grow stronger in He who has conquered all sin and for whom all things were created, Jesus Christ, son of the living God! If I cry and seem week it would be because I mourn out of the strength of my love. If I were to fail or fall as I attempted to serve or represent those most in need, I would do so out of the strength of my faith. If I were to seem week when submitting to the violence or abuse around me, I would do so out of the strength of my inner peace.

Who can measure my inner strength? Only my Lord on the cross!

This little piece gets better with each paragraph. The first paragraph, consisting entirely of questions, doesn't "hook" the reader--we gloss over them to get to the answers. Revise that, and you've got something very special.
