Topic: Selfishness (02/14/05)
I've been writing and submitting for about a month now and this topic just reached out and grabbed me. You see when it comes to being selfish, I can't. I truly feel that I am a very selfless woman. I can only pray that my children will learn from this and grow to be very loving and caring men. Men of Jesus! This is my poem, I pray that you will enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it:

If Jesus had been selfish, where would we be today?
He gave his life for our salvation, He knew the only way.
To save us from our sins, to save us from sure death,
Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ died and never wept.

If Jesus had been selfish, what do you think we'd see?
I assure you that it wouldn't be the face of God or me.
Because of Jesus' selflessness we have eternal life,
No need to worry anymore, no need to live with strife.

When you wrote that you can't be selfish I thought you were joking. We are all born with this selfish nature and must die daily. I appreciate your heartfelt cry for your children.

I hope your little men grow up to be big unselfish men too. If you truly are selfless all the time they come to expect a lot more than they should.
