2005 Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast region leaving thousands homeless and separated from loved ones.
A landslide in Indonesia killed about 200 people.
A young teenage boy was critically wounded by a drive-by shooting on his way to school.
Many people in today’s world are hurting and desperately need helping hands and compassionate hearts. If you are one of those people hurting today by discouraging circumstances be encouraged by Psalm 46:1-3 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” (NIV)
Remember God is in control and he will help you through difficult times that you may be facing.
If God has blessed you today, reach out to others who may need a helping hand. Helping hands all over the world are providing assistance to those in need—food, shelter, clothing and finances.
Psalm 121 says, “I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from harm—he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” (NIV)
Do what you can and reach out to those in need. Remember it could be you.
