I had to leave him there was no other way.
I wanted to hold him and watch him play,
I wanted to wipe all his sorrows away.
I wanted to see him turn 1, 2, and 3
I wanted to bounce him upon my firm knee.
I wanted to teach him about God’s love for man,
I wanted to show him that God holds my hand.
I wanted to see him go off to school.
I wanted to hear him play in the pool.
I wanted to touch him and hear him say,
“OH dear Momma, its your special Day!”
I wanted to watch him marry the gal of his dreams,
I wanted to help him through all of life’s streams.
I wanted to see him grow old just like me,
I wanted to know him and watch him run free.
Perhaps all my wants are selfish I know…
Maybe right now, its time that I grow.
For now he is gone, his first day n’er ended,
I know he’s with Jesus, whom now he’s befriended!
I had to bury my baby today…
Oh, Help me dear Lord, to dream a new way!
