After an moment of thought, Cirrus had an idea. “Well, we could make them our slaves and wear them down.” Cirrus replied with a smirk on his face.
Pharaoh liked the sound of that, “Order it to be done!”
After a time of hard slavery, Pharaoh noticed that the Israelites were not wearing down, in fact, they continued to multiply, faster than before! Pharaoh had another idea.
“So you see ladies, I would like you to kill all the baby boys that you deliver, not all the babies, just the boys.” Pharaoh tried to convince Shiphrah and Puah, the mid-wives to the Israelite women. These women did not heed his orders. So Pharaoh had to take matters into his own hands.
“I, Pharaoh, do decree that all baby Israelites boys be thrown into the Nile River!” Pharaoh was sure this would put an end to his problem.
“I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before, Cirrus, it’s brilliant! By the time this generation grows up they will not be able to produce any descendants and the rest will have died off. Ahh! The end of our problems! Brilliant, I say!” Pharaoh was very pleased with himself.
A few months later his daughter came in and told him about her day.
“Daddy, you will not believe what found in the Nile River!” she was speaking very quickly, obviously excited..
“What did you find my dear?” Pharaoh loved talking with his children.
“I saw a little floating basket, when my servant girl brought it to me, I opened it and there was the most precious Israelite baby boy. A girl standing in the weeds went and got an Israelite mother. She is going to nurse him until he is old enough to come here and I will raise him as my own! Isn’t that exciting daddy?” she could hardly contain her herself.
“Sweet daughter, I’m not sure that is the best idea, I just had all the baby boys killed. What will happen if people find out I have a Israelite boy living in my palace?” Pharaoh was concerned.
“OH, Daddy! I just have to have him! I found him, I will not let you kill him! I want him to be my baby! I will never forgive you if you kill him, I will never speak to you again!!!!” she threatened as she was working on the tears.
“Ok, darling, you can keep him.” Pharaoh said giving into his daughters tantrum. She kissed him and walked out of the room, as she was leaving he said to himself, “How much trouble could ONE Israelite boy cause?”
