The business man neatly dressed in his business attire, relaxed in his assigned seat in the swiftly moving train. He was preoccupied reading the headlines of the monthly christian publication "The Spiritual Herald". He shut out everything outside his little space, he was paying no attention to his surroundings. For him this trip was a routine trip. He didn't anticipate anything unusual because he traveled this trip often to conduct business and attend trade seminars. He was in his own little world expecting everything to go well, so he could soon return back home to his family.
Being unobservative and unaware of everything going on around him, he had blocked everything out of his mind except his personal relationship between him and the Lord. He often used his time traveling via train to think of God's love and grace and to sing praises to his personal savior.
Miles later, he was not even aware of sirens sounding loudly till someone tapped him on the shoulder. When he realized the panic alarm had sounded off, he first thought it was a warning and they were only doing a random testing of their survalance system since the 911 terroristic attack. He started to turn and look around to see who was behind him tapping on his shoulders when he noticed there was no one near him, all the seats were empty. Where had they gone, It crossed his mind had he been left behind. (Recalling "The Left Behind Series") He tried to turn behind him toward the person that tapped his shoulder when he felt a hard object jab at his shoulder blade. Could he be at gunpoint. Yes! He was! He begin to be afraid, but he didn't allow his discomfort and insecurities to show. He was trembling inside which was making it difficult to breath. To keep from hyperventilating, he began to breath in through his nose and out through his mouth--in and out---in and out. The more focused and in control he tried to be the more fear he felt.
The still voice spoke loudly, "I will fear no evil: for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me....." This voice alerted his mind to Psalms 23:4. He wanted to yell: Lord Help me! Help me now! but the hard gun tip kept him silent, so he starting praying under his breath.
All of a sudden the train started sliding this way and that way, everything was coming apart, it was obvious the train had derailed. He wondered where were they, where was he going to end up? Had things turned to the worst. Did the dear Lord intervene or had this become a real terroristic attack and he was headed for real trouble. He closed his eyes, bowed his eyes and started speaking out loud Psalms 21:4--(He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him.)
When he awoke he was in the hospital wondering how he got there. Everything was vague, did something happen or is this only a dream? God had heard his desperate plea, God spared his life.
