“You take up too much room ”
“I don’t have enough room MOM He wants me to scoot over but I can’t ” Riley tattles.
“Boys Stop arguing and listen” I protest. “We are shopping for a new house. Isn’t that exciting? Now help us, look out the window and I will tell you when we are coming to one we like.”
The boys are full of questions. “Where is it? When will we move? Will we be closer to school? Could I sleep later in the mornings? Will we have a swimming pool?”
“I really don't have all the answers yet boys, but it looks hopeful you might get a little more sleep in the mornings.”
I wouldn’t have it any other way.
“But the truly exciting thing for you two is you will have your own bedroom ”
“I don’t want my own bedroom.” Gates puts it out there, loud and clear.
“But you were frustrated at Riley for not giving you enough space just a second ago.”
I didn’t understand his reasoning. “Wouldn’t you like to have your own room with your own bed and all the space you need for whatever you want to do?”
“I can’t sleep without Riley on the bottom bunk.” Gates had never known anything different in his whole eight and a half years of life. “Can we still share a room if we move?”
Two brothers. Only 19 months apart, fight more than they get along but can’t stand to be separated. Space between them seems unnatural at times. My prayer is that is that the space between them and the Lord will be unnatural. So bizarre in fact that when Satan creeps between them and God, their hearts will have to make things right as soon as possible. I am sure they will fight along the way for their own will. But with the power of God, that dreaded space will no longer exist.
