Another Wow!!



When I see what happened last week and how it came about I can only say,“Wow”!



I knew what I needed to do and to be perfectly honest, I had put it off for a while with all kinds of self-justifications. I liked my pick-up. But somehow I knew now was the time for it to go. So off to the car wash to get the pick-up presentable. I had not worry much about the dirt on it as I drove it so seldom. But now that I am going to sell it, it needed to be clean inside and out.



Little did I realize how God’s plan was coming together. I would not see it until the next morning.



All of this was on Friday. I had mowed the front lawn so I could park the pick-up down by the street where it could be more easily seen. I parked the pick-up there about 4:30 and figured it would take some time for it to sell. Little did I know about what was happening down the street at some friend’s house.



The grandson’s pick-up just fell apart. He had been pouring mega buck into keeping it running, but now it was time to try something else. With all he spent to keep it running who could think in terms of a new one? How can you find a reliable one that is used?



So what happened? Gramma had to go to the store and she could not get there without passing my house. On her way home she saw the pick-up and copied the phone number, because she did not think it was the one she had for us.



Saturday morning Gramma and grandpa drove up our driveway and my dog let me know someone was there. I stepped outside and greeted my friends. We talked about the pick-up and they said they would talk to their grandson who would be home shortly and then call me.



About an hour later they drove up again. “Can we drive the pick-up down to the house to see how it runs?”



“Sure, let me get the key,”



“We will be back shortly” they said, as I handed them the keys.



“Fine."



About ninety minutes later, they returned and told me that their grandson loved the pick-up and gave me a check for the asking price.



I had put off selling the pick-up for several weeks for reasons that made little sense now. Then the Lord told me now was the time. I got the pick-up ready for sale and make sure the yard was ready to park the pick-up by the street.



I have allergies and had not been able to mow the lawn for several weeks. But that day even with the pollen count high I had no problem. God was there with His perfect plan.



Many are the times I’ve seen vehicles with for sale signs sit on our street for weeks before they are sold I was prepared to wait. Oh, we had prayed the Lord would sell it quickly, but never expected it to sell in less than one day. I also did not know about our friends need that really became urgent the same day I put for sale signs on the truck.



While I did not know then, I know now. My wife and I had prayed about selling the truck. Our friends were praying about their grandson’s need for his transportation. So the Lord decided to bless us and our friends at the same time.



I am constantly amazed at the way God works. When I have an answer in my mind as to how God could do something, He just laughs and says I have a better way.



What God does is amazing because He is amazing.

Don't we have a treasure chest full of these memories of God's intimate knowledge of our needs? I love it the we have this place to tell our stories of our amazing God!

I really liked this story. It is a wonderful testimony and a delightful read. The only thing I would do differently is to heighten the suspense, such as placing the paragraph that explains how hard it is to sell cars near the beginning. But I like the fact that you did mention it, and you wrapped the story up beautifully: a fun tale about how God works behind the scenes to answer our prayers.

Your piece was a real prize to read. You are a fine writer, and you write as though you are seated beside me, talking to me face to face. And that is the mark of an exceptional writer. Some advice, though: Let your work simmer on the back burner till it's well seasoned. Meaning you will catch the little errors in punctuation and word omissions. All in all, though, a real pick me up story about a a pick-up truck. Keep at it, my friend. You are a writer through and through.

If we don't think the way you put it in your piece, we will probably use the word "luck". I don't like that word as it does not credit God with any part of something happening.

Great story. Well written. It will be enjoyed by others.

It might be used as a teaching devotional for people who still use the word "luck".

Ditto to the above comments, so I’d like to give a few writing critiques. Try to stay with the present tense or past tense, but don’t go back and forth between the two. Edit out conversations and comments that aren’t necessary for the enhancement of the story.

You have great bones for the story, and good editing will make it better. We are all learning.
