The children of God, like wild grapes, were found by the Great Vinedresser in the wilderness. Just like the Lord found Israel like grapes in the wilderness (Hosea 9:10). Although the vine produced fruit, the Vinedresser desired other attributes from the fruit which will provide Him with the desired taste after the wine is made. The wild grapes could become better, tastier and more appealing if it was given the needed care and provided with the required nutrients.

He decides then, to take the plant from the wilderness into His own garden and work His magic. As a great Gardener, who initiated the idea of gardening and domestication, decided to grow these wild plants for His own very purpose. Here, He planned to remove every undesirable trait, control its growth and improve its quality by tending the crop Himself to ensure that He produced the best. He was set on altering the wild and inherent characteristics of the plant to make it His very own new creation.

The idea of grafting was then applied (Romans 11:17), where, He grated the wild plant unto the vine of His choice which always produced the best of fruit. He was certain that without grafting the wild plant unto His choicest vine, the plant wont bear fruit of His choice (John 15:5). His garden had three elements, the vine, branches (wild plants) and He, the vinedresser (John 15: 1,5). He prepared the vineyard, dug around it, built a tower, hewed out a wine vat and expected that it produces good grapes according to His desires (Isaiah 5:2).

But for some reason, they produced worthless grapes because they still produced grapes with features as the wild grapes. Because these grapes said to themselves, I was born wild, there are some things I just canâ€™t change. Others said, the environment makes it quite difficult to produce the desired grapes, its just too hard because there is so much to give up. And a few said, the gardener is very patient, I will just be wild for a while. The vast majority just enjoyed being seen as grafted to the vine while ignoring all the tendering efforts of the gardener.

In the gardenerâ€™s vineyard, there was no room to remain wild, if you remained wild, you were worthless to Him since He doesnâ€™t achieve His purpose. There is everything available to become His choicest plant producing good fruit. So, He asked the question, what more was there to do which He hadnâ€™t done ad why is His expectation cut short (Isaiah 5:4). And He knew the answer, it was because the branches only attached themselves but never abided.

They didnâ€™t take up juices of the vine (His word) and obey the instructions of the gardener or allow for pruning (John 15: 2-11). He was going to be patient with the branches who are keen on remaining wild only for a time, He knows what He is going to do to them (Isaiah 5: 5-7). They were going to be gathered, thrown away, cast into the fire (John 15:6). The only way to please the Gardener is to bear much fruit, the fruit which are not of a wild nature but of the features of His choicest vine (John 15:8). And this can be achieved by keeping His commandments (John 15:10). He desires to make us His own, transforming us from wild children into worthy children. He doesnâ€™t leave room to remain wild, choosing to remain wild is all on you.
