Topic: CROWD (07/06/17)
Recently, an exchange that my husband and I had in a crowded restaurant got me thinking about “confusion” and “misunderstanding”; negative terms for most of us.



While we were having dinner in this restaurant, the hostess seated a couple in the booth directly behind my husband. She said to the couple, “…and there are unlimited games on this kiosk for $1.99 if you choose”. My husband leaned forward and said “olympic games”? I replied, “unlimited”. “Unlimited what?”, he said.



As I rolled my eyes, chuckling and shaking my head, I wondered if we were unwittingly part of a comedy skit!



Certainly in this situation, the crowded and noisy restaurant led to misunderstanding.



Just a few days ago, I had my teeth cleaned. The hygienist said that my lower teeth were crowded, which makes it easier for more plaque to build up. Definitely negative!



Indeed, many of us do associate crowds or being crowded, negatively. Which made me think of Jesus and the multitude of crowds He dealt with so very often.



He didn’t send them away; rather, he was patient, teaching and loving them. If He did retreat from the crowds, it was to spend time in prayer.



We, too, deal with “crowds”; in other words, those things that zap our joy, our time and our energy. In the hustle and bustle of life, we forget that our time, our lives, belong to God. What joy it is to surrender to Him, to trust Him with all of it!! If we do, surely we will accomplish everything and more that He has planned for us.



And so, I do my best to remember this when any number of frustrations, delays, or other hindrances begin to consume my day. I try not to be confused about where my time is best spent or with whom. I pray and focus on Jesus, and that is when I experience the calm and peace in knowing that all is well. My “unlimited what” is His, and that’s all that really matters!

I liked the fun short stories and illustrations you provided.

Red Ink: I felt the piece lacked a clear focus that would tie it all together. Based on the first sentence, I was expecting to read more about confusion and misunderstanding.

Life does "crowd" in on us, you're right. I think, though, that we are encouraged not to use the words of the topic/theme in our piece, but I'm not finding that written anywhere this afternoon, so I may be wrong. Keep writing!

This is pretty interesting. I like how you use today examples to describe the spiritual world we live in. It is different and pretty scary.

Quotes always start with a capital. Quotes with proper names both get a capital.

What I kind of get confused on is going from Dental Hygiene to first century Palestine. I need more tie in. In old and New Testament, God says He wasn't pleased with them
