I stand in the Garden of Promise, the place I go to speak with my Jesus. I see red - vibrant deep red - in some of the flowers; beautiful big hyacinths. The color is dripping off them and I look up to see the red cascading down. I am overawed to see Jesus hanging on the Cross right there in the garden. Tortured, brutalised, yet finishing his Father’s work. No part of it not known to him. In full awareness of what he was sent to do; in full accordance with his Father’s will.
As I watch Jesus hanging there my heart is beating wildly. “Did there have to be this?” I am asking. “Did it have to be like this?” And the answer comes that this was but a speck within eternity but a speck so monumental as to change the order of the universe. Jesus became sin.
I move close so that the blood of my Jesus is dripping on me and then it pours over me. It doesn’t feel like blood, it feels like the purest rainwater, brighter and clearer than any water I have ever known. And Jesus comes down off that Cross to stand beside me – radiant; beautiful. He shows me His hands and feet just like He showed the apostles when he appeared to them after He had been resurrected and I can see the holes in His hands and feet.
I trace the outlines of the holes and my tears fall as I start to comprehend how much He loves me. “There is power in My blood - it is the life force; the sustenance that is able to transform. Just like blood is carried throughout the body via a network of veins so too is My precious blood able to move throughout your body, healing and changing all that it touches.” Experiences, memories, pain, misunderstandings: all can be brought to the Cross of Jesus and transformed through the power of His blood washing these clean.
Jesus died on the Cross but then he transcended death and rose again and He is alive now, so fully alive it is almost unbearable to comprehend. “All can be taken to the Cross. Just as I finished sin I can finish all that keeps you from being in relationship with Me. Past, present, future - all can be washed clean and transformed with my precious Holy mighty blood.” There is power in the blood. In the blood of Jesus.
Jesus came down from the Cross at Calvary and into the hearts of men with His amazing grace, His sweet redemptive restorative grace. So that never again could the relationship between God and man be broken. Through His grace, He did it all. There is nothing more for us to do other than remember we are His and He is ours.
1 John 1:7 (NIV) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.
