Pity my wretched fate
For the love of family
I remained in helpless state
The Israelites would invade
Was I doomed with my loved ones
Would the Lord spare us all
when His soldiers attacked
I resolved on the fateful night
to cast my lot with their God
My heart leapt with immense joy
on opening the house door
Two agents from Sheetim
tasked to spy on our land
spent the night at my house
but the king knew the scheme
Tonight some men from Israel
have sneaked in to inspect
the land. Bring the men out
they come to snoop around
Soon after I hid them safely
I replied, "They did come to me
but I didn't know their origin
The men left before the gate shut
Which way did they go
I don't know, but hurry and give chase
Who knows you'll overtake both men
The king's men pursued all the way
When the pursue party parted
Up the roof I then went
with both men I pleaded
I know the Lord's given you our land
Cold sweat thrilled through our veins
We had heard how the Lord
dried the Red Sea; He drowned
strong soldiers; the Jews fled
The news had caused great despair
The Lord your God is great
For heaven is His throne
On earth below He still reigns
So, promise me please to swear
by the Lord that you will be kind
to my family and father's
since I've been kind to you both
Our lives for yours, they assured
Don't tell what we do here
When the Lord gives the land
we'll treat you well and in good faith
The city lay still in the hush
I let them down in a flash
In the hills they hid for three days
They then went on their way
I waited for the fateful day
the Lord caused the walls to fall
Within the ruins I with loved ones
were spared but not the rest
Rahab believed in the true God
She took Him for her own
who later became an ancestor
of both King David and the Lord
We too are blessed by her faith
To those who believe in Jesus
they are given the right to be
the sons and daughters of God
