And thus no peaceful aftermath.
A soft answer is always good,
Is more easily understood.
Some say to stir the rhubarb's fun,
Probably not for everyone.
Helpful words are what we should use.
Harmful words can hurt and abuse.
Helpful words build up and do good.
This should always be understood.
Belittling words are not right,
In Jesus' or in others sight.
Cutting words are painful to feel.
The words of the wise sooth and heal.
Remember, think before you speak.
The will of God always to seek.
Though small, the tongue's hard to control,
Speak helpfully should be our goal.
In this way others will be blest.
We will too if we pass this test.
May we be listening for God's voice,
So that we will make the right choice.
God's Holy Spirit our heart's stir,
So His will and ours will concur.
