In the Gospel we're told
Return to the Fold
Adam and Eve
where are you
they heard His warm reassuring voice
King Saul who fell
Soon came Samuel
to get him to follow God's will
When David sinned
Nathan the Lord then sent
to get him to be repentant
The king blasphemed
Daniel to him proclaimed
God's judgement and holy esteem
Jonah failed to obey
He fled from Nineveh
A fish was sent to stop him stray
Like a shepherd who braves the storms
searching for a sheep that is torn
crying out, Return to My Fold
Like a passionate lover, devoted,
longing fervently for the Beloved
Return to Me! Return to Me
Like a lady looking frantically
for her lost coin, My coin My coin
My missing coin
Like a mother hen
looking for the chick that's missing
high and low, for her youngling
Like an avid reader
combing the study, here and there,
I misplaced my book! Oh dear!
Like a caring Father
watching and waiting for His child
Come back, My child! Come back!
Lamenting for the lost
Jesus pleads for their cause
Return to the LORD now
Softly and lovingly
God is calling for you and me
Come home, come home, come home for the party!
The Father, the Shepherd, the Bride
with myriad saints, East and West,
in a Grand Finale, rejoice and feast!
