Where all our dreams come true,
That kingdom Christ said was at hand,1
That frees creation too.2
To find this place, where must we look,
This place of grace and glory?
It's all been written in the book,
Our Lord's salvation story.
We wonder how we'll ever rise
Above the world's control
When sights of sorrow fill the eyes
And so distress the soul.
We oft are led by strangers' views,
Christ's messages not heeding,3
And find ourselves not where we choose
But where their thoughts were leading.
Habakkuk's words of circumstance
Are true for us today
For wickedness disrupts the dance
And judgment fades away.4
'Tis time we all should understand
That what we are receiving
Is coming from another's hand
Controlling our believing5.
“The war is over”, Jesus said,
“The kingdom is at hand,”6
Yet, into battle we are led,
The soldiers and the band.
Did not our Lord claim victory,
Destroying satan's menace?7
His words are what will help us see
The battle is within us.8
The war is not with flesh and blood,9
Nor with the world's misdealings;
It's in our thoughts we fight for good
And conquer our own feelings.10
The war is in the mind, indeed.
That's where the fighting's done.
To overcome our hate and greed
Is how the battle's won.11
And only with our Savior's love
Is hope for vindication12
His words were sent here from above
To bring us true salvation.13
“Resist not evil”, Jesus spoke,
For that just makes it stronger.
Turn the cheek, give up the cloak,
You'll battle not much longer.14
Love those who hate you, bless the arm
That raises to revile you.
Pray for those who seek your harm,
No more will they beguile you.15
Give alms and pray for joy and peace;
It's bread upon the water,
And fast for selfishness to cease
To be more like your Father.16
Judge not another, for 'tis sure
Yourself you'll be exposing.17
The fight of faith we must endure.
It's fear we are opposing.18
All evil comes from lies, and we,
Though soldiers, fell before them
That's how we lost the victory!
No more can we ignore them.19
And fear, like every other sin,
Comes from our imperfection.20
'Tis not outside but deep within
We soldiers need correction.21
The Christians' war is not to fight
The worldly apparitions;
It is to face the darkest night
And change our hearts' conditions.
And only Christ can wash away
The hurts and hates inside us;22
With Truth and Light, we'll fin3 the way
With Him to lead and guide us.23
We onward march, and as we go
In Christ our Lord we stand,
We purify our hearts and know
The Kingdom is at hand!
