When my greed is in full swing stand back. I owe you nothing and will crush you if you interfere. I will stop at nothing to get what I want and I will let nothing stop me. I will fight to the death if need be.
Some have said that I’m like a hunter carefully stalking his prey. Waiting for it to run across the open field. Striking as fast as I can until it’s over in a matter of seconds. Leaving nothing for the wolf and the other scavengers.
I’m man enough to admit that they’re right. I take it all and leave nothing. If you think this is unfair and don’t like it, I don’t care. If you blew your chance, oh well. If your pride hurts then go home and lick your wounds. I’m not here to hold your hand or baby-sit you.
Matthew is right,
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” - Matthew 7:13-14 NIV
Everyone thinks that the world is larger than life, but it’s not. It is very small and my opportunities are even smaller. So every time that small gate opens I know that I have one shot and I take it.
It’s funny, if others would stop worrying about what I’m doing and focus on the situation at hand they would realize that I am not the hunter, but the hunted. That I am actually there to get them across the field to safety.
On many occasions I have found myself standing at the crossroads looking for wisdom and guidance. Jeremiah chapter 6 verse 16 tells us,
This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
One day while standing and listening to those that are on the ancient path I felt a presence behind me and turned around.
“Good morning Mr. Satan.”
“Oooh Mr. Satan, your fear excites me.”
“It’s not fear, its respect.”
“Still, I’m equally impressed.”
“You know that I’m praying for you right?”
“You really don’t buy into all that holy roller stuff do you?”
“I do and you know that. That’s why you are here. You’re getting a little anxious because my greed is interfering with your greed. I’ve got you backed up on your heals and you’re about to fall, and that frightens you.”
“You’ve got nothing.”
“What I have is the power to remove the lost and broken from your grip and bring them to the light.”
“No Mr. Satan and I’m sorry to tell you that you have nothing, but you can if you if you choose to.”
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. – Matthew 6:19-21 NIV.
“Are you trying to temp me? You know that I created temptation right?”
“It’s not a temptation. It’s the truth and a promise.”
“But, I’m here to drive a wedge into the universe.”
“And I’m here to restore it.”
”You’re killing me with all this nonsense.”
“You’re killing yourself. My offer will stand until I die or the rapture. I’m 54 and the world is a mess. I suggest that you make a decision fast: you’re running out of time.”
“Again I am praying for you. I know we have been chosen to take different paths, but I hope that you will follow me. My greed is to win souls, and to fill heaven with as many brothers and sisters as I can. Nothing could ever satisfy my greed more than to sit across from you and the others at the banquet table and hear someone say; thanks I’m here because of you.”
