I was raised in a home where it was important to go to Church on Sunday. Vacation Bible Schools were enjoyed by attending mine along with other churches. Friends, it was all about friends. Thank God for the Baptist who at this time pounded on the pulpit and tried to put the fear of God in you.
In my late twenties I started searching for God. I remember telling Him if He is God I wanted Him to appear to me. Well, later I decided I had His Word and if this wasn't enough He was sorry. This is when I got on my knees and dedicated my life to Him. I knew I had been reborn. All of a sudden I couldn't get enough of Him. I wanted to be in His Presence and learn as much as I could about Him.
I wrote my first poem this particular afternoon. Remember I said first:
I fell down on my knees one day
and asked God's Grace upon me,
for I knew I had sinned and gone
my way without Him.
Last night I thought about writing a book combing my poetry with my relationship with God and different things. Wow! I am an Inspired Writer who spent so much time trying to use this gift to help others. At the same time I am a free spirit who loves Mardi Gras parades, Music, Cajun people who love life. Maybe God supplied this scripture for people to know who I am: a Sinner saved by Grace.
... “If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves on behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. The LORD will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
~Isaiah 58: 9-11

Well done.
God bless~
In this sentence: "I wrote my first poem this particular afternoon."I would use the word "that" instead of " this".
To me it just sounds better and seems to keep the story in past tense.
