The second time, God resurrected me on a spiritual level. My mother wasn’t really there for me, and in school I had extreme issues with bullies. Left feeling all alone, there were many times, I had sought after death, but to this day I know God was still there calling me, seeking my obedience. Many times I had sought out destructive ways, as so I didn’t have to feel the pain and internal wounds that were festering. Being abused by my stepfather from a very young age, I just wanted the pain to go away. Feeling ashamed, and having nowhere to turn, I cried myself to sleep many nights. Many times, I would retreat to my room and blast the radio, thinking that would remove all the painful, poisonous wounds. As I grew up into a woman, not really thinking I had any value, I had lived a very immoral life.
Eventually, after rebelling and fighting until I had no strength left in me, I ended up living at a group home of no request of my own. Sadness loomed over me. While there were no bars on the windows, it sure felt like a prison. There was a curfew, and a regular strict schedule to follow. One day, while at an outing to a fun place, I met my son’s father. Eventually, he brought me to his church. The more I attended church, the more I wanted to know this Jesus who was proclaimed. The healing I had sought after for my whole life could at last be mine. How desperately I sought after freedom, and new life that the preacher spoke of.
One last horrific injury came upon me at the hands of several cruel individuals one night, and as soon as it was discovered in the morning, I phoned my future son’s father and he came right away and took me out of that place. At his church, I received Christ and was baptized. Eventually we moved to New York, and my son was born.
Two years later, God took the life of my son’s father, and though I was grieved at the time, I see that it was God’s way of inviting me to a long lasting relationship with Him, and to lean on Him for my protection and Provision.
For almost eight long years, I have been a single mother, struggling to put food on the table and a roof over our heads, though it was God’s grace and love that sustained me, and through His word, I took great comfort. Still, to this day, It is the sufficient love and grace of God providing for the needs of both me and my son…
God’s love has abundantly been poured out onto me, and my precious son.

The word drowned means to tell the manner of dying. The words "drowned to death" therefore means "die to death". The two words "to death" can be left off and still say the same thing. (Isn't God's grace profound.)
Because the events were so painful you may not be able to elaborate on them, however just a little more detail may bring greater awareness of God's grace to the reader's attention. (Like. How did you drown?)
Walking in God's grace, or obeying His commands, cannot erase past memories but it can bring peace through the hope of heaven it builds.
Thanks again for the painful sharing of your memories.

1 Peter 3:15 - But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and [be] ready always to [give] an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
