Words as Weapons

Some people seem to take delight
Putting others in a bad light.
Harmful words are the kind they use.
Maybe no truth is in their news.

If someone makes a little slip,
In their action or with their lip.
Some think that they should tell the world.
Words can hurt as though rocks were hurled.

Sometimes the very tone of voice
Makes what they say a hurtful choice.
If what they say is proven wrong
The hurt and harm remain quite strong.

Sack of feathers tossed to the wind,
Their retrieval will have no end.
Careless words that are tossed about
Can’t be retrieved, there is no doubt.

The tongue is a very small member.
A fire can start from its ember.
Friendships can be destroyed this way.
We should be careful what we say.
.
Helpful words are always the best.
You should put your speech to this test.
For we should speak the truth in love.
God’s there to help us from above.
