For example, "Come Holy Spirit, come." A lot of the people from the congregation sang it as well. Some were sincere as they sang it, and others weren't.
The sermon was on "How gossip hurts people." It meant a lot to me. Out in the fellowhip hall people were often gossiping about other people like you would witness in the street. I felt so lost, and so out of place. I spoke to a few people as I poured myself a cup of coffee. I have to ask myself, who are they gossiping about? Is it me or is it other people. Should the fellowship hall be a place to gossip about other people? I know that slander hurts other people, and I have to wonder if is the church I could fit into. But what matters the most is finding a place in God's home.

I am not sure if we can use the actions of the members as the main reason for attending any certain assembly. This is because we cannot really know what they might be talking about.
I enjoyed your thoughtfulness, though, recognizing the evils of gossip.
Keep your eyes in the Bible as you write.
God bless~
Paul tell us not to gossip so maybe you could pray for the gossipers.
If you decide to leave I hope you find a more loving home church than this one seems to be.
God bless you.
