Life, producing fruit,
All varieties, in their season.
Overflowing inspiration,
A gift of God.
Death, time has run out,
The lease expired.
Returning,
Was the fruit acceptable?
It is interesting that all humans have the desire to “accomplish”. Admittedly, this instinct can be squashed or contaminated through life experiences, but we just naturally reach out to change our environment, or maybe just to explore, but in the exploration, we change it. Watch the baby in the crib as she reaches out to touch the toy, the toddler as he stacks up the blocks, only to laugh excitedly when they all fall down. The chef prepares a new dish with a new combination of tastes and the architect builds a new form. We are inspired to create; we inspire others with our creations. God designed us so, for we are made in his image, in the image of our Creator.
Life could have continued into eternity, full of the joy of inspiration and creation. But there came a contaminant into the environment; our creative impulses were twisted. God introduced a time lease into our world for our protection; a limited lifespan for individuals and a limited existence for this world, as we know it. To protect us from the contaminant He gave us some rules for living. And he laid out some requirements for us to accomplish. In our zeal to create, we are to be careful not to create other gods, and we are not to harm our fellow humans. And in our personal lives we are to grow some special fruit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. Notice that this fruit is to be given away.
The lease on this world, this Age, is about to expire, and for some of us the lease on this life is near the expiration date. To be sure, there is another life promised. Let us be busy producing and giving away beautiful fruit; pleasing our jealous, protective, and loving God.
