Satan was not having a good day, ‘Where is that Imp that is supposed to be in charge of destroying those Jews in Babylon, I sent for him hours ago?” Just as He finished His screaming tirade the pint-sized demon entered the door to the great hall, “It’s about time,” Satan sneered at the now trembling creature kneeling before Him. “Forgive me your most high and exalted evil one.” The imp now pleaded, “I received your summons, but I was putting the finishing pieces together of a plan that I believe will rid us of three of those troublesome Israelites.” Satan, the ruler of this dark and sinister kingdom, sat down on the Jeweled and Gold incrusted seat and began to speak in a softer, but still imposing voice,
“A plan you say. One that will guarantee the extermination of these God loving, chosen people?” As Satan spoke the imp stood, but remained with His head bowed “Yes my most high and exalted Master, I think so.” “You think, you think!” The Evil Prince sprang up “I do not believe you fully understand the serious predicament you face here, if this plan of yours fails, for any reason, you will spend the rest of your time in the lowest parts of Hades,do I make myself clear?” With out uttering a word the imp nodded in agreement that He fully understood. “Now that we both have a proper understanding of the serious of this matter, come and tell me about your plan.” Satan once again returned to His throne.
“Sire here is the plan, in about an hour King Nebuchadnezzar will call all the heads of His government together, and they will be instructed at the sound of the musical interments they must fall down and worship the golden image He has built, they will also be told that failure to do so will result in being thrown into the furnace.” A smile slowly crossed Satan’s face, “This plan of yours sounds good so far is there more to it?” “Oh yes, the three Hebrew’s Shadrach, Meshsach and Abed-Nego will be among those in attendance, now if they worship the image their testimony for God will be ruined and if they fail to worship it, then The King will have them burned in the furnace, either way their testimony and influence will come to an end.” The demon waited for a response “I like it, I just have one question, with all those people there how can you be sure The King will know if they worshiped the image or not?” the imp continued “I thought of that and I planted it in the hearts of certain Chaldeans to spy on them and report to the King if they fail to obey His law.” Satan jumped up and almost embraced the little creature, “ Wonderful, I don’t see how this can fail, as you say either way we win, the brilliance of my planning even overwhelms me!”
The evil Prince spoke “What are you waiting for get back to your post in Babylon and report back to me when you have carried out My plan, I expect to here from you either way I want the satisfaction of knowing if they disgraced themselves and God, or if they die in that fiery furnace, and be sure that The King has it heated seven times hotter.” while Satan waited, thinking how nice it was to be rid of at least three of the Hebrews His thoughts turned to the one remaining Jew He hated most of all, Daniel, now He would only have to come up with a way to discredit or better yet kill Daniel. Just then the imp returned, Satan could tell something was wrong, “Well what happened, did they disgrace God, or die in the furnace?” The imp stretched out on His face, shaking answered in a trembling voice, “ Sire, they were cast into the fire, but then a fourth being appeared in the mist of the flames, and the three Hebrews came out without even the order of smoke on them, Satan realized His bad day had just gotten a lot worse.
