Through Scripture, God reveals to us that He, in fact, has a favorite scent. It is not the high priced designer perfumes and colognes that the world spends over $12 million dollars on annually. It’s not the most publicized creations that are endorsed by the highest acclaimed celebrity. This exceptional scent came with a price much higher than any of these, and is endorsed by the most famous person the world has ever known. It was created by God himself, and replicates the very essence of who He is. If it sounds appealing, the Good News is that it has already been purchased for us! It has been given to us as a gift from God.

The ingredients of this fragrance can explain the significance that it emits. They are somewhat unusual, yet very meaningful, and give off the perfect aroma. The most concentrated ingredient is love, which is the scent’s foundation and is what secures its strength. This fragrance is unique, in that, the remaining ingredients are added with just as much importance as the first, to create its noticeable long lasting effect. With meekness, humbleness, kindness, gentleness, and peacefulness, there is nothing that is left to the imagination. The fragrance is strong, yet sweet, simple, yet, complex, light, yet, consuming. It is a one of a kind conception, with remarkable effects. There is just no other fragrance like it in the world.

With so many different body chemistries, one might wonder how it would smell on them. This is the best part. It is perfect for everyone, male or female, any race or ethnic origin. God developed it to represent Himself perfectly among all those who believe in Him. Once someone wears it and experiences the wonders of it, they’ll wear it everywhere, just to see other’s reactions to it. It is captivating in the most peculiar way. By far, the greatest attribute of God’s favorite scent, is that once someone has experienced it, they have a longing to have it for themselves.

So next time you’re reaching for that perfume or cologne, hoping to smell your best, why not please God, by reaching for His favorite scent, “the fragrance of Christ.” After all, it was bought especially for you, with the highest price, a sacrificial death. And there’s nothing better than being covered with something that is truly, “Scent” from Above!

But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ's victory] and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere,
For we are the sweet fragrance of Christ [which exhales] unto God, [discernible alike] among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing:
