ROSES.-28/10/05
Everyone is in a hurry these days. Hurry to get out of bed, hurry to get break-fast, rush into traffic and get on with life.
No one has a moment to spare anymore.Impatience with everything and everyone is on the rise leading to problems in our lives and relationships.
Take a minute, slow down and consider the beautiful gift of nature, the scenery, the sky, the trees the flowers, the rose for example.
Roses are beautiful flowers that have thorns. They give such a sweet fragrance you would think they couldn’t possibly hurt you. Life is like a rose garden. It has to be groomed, pruned and well taken care of. Life is beautiful but like the rose it has thorns. It is a garden that needs to be well groomed to cushon the effects of the stinging thorns that life dishes out on us.

Our relationships with others, our walk with God and our daily decisions like the rose could be beautiful. Where do we need pruning? Where do we need grooming? When do we need to stop and smell the sweet fragrance the gift called life gives?
Like a bank account we need to make withdrawals and deposits for a balanced life.withdraw selfishness and forget about yourself completely. Learn to trade resentment, wickedness and anger for love. When we walk in love and put love first all the time, our journey through life would not be so difficult. Our hunger for everything our sights are set on would diminish, we will be reborn and see life in another way. When we hurry, it would be for enduring legacies that we could leave to the children unborn or else let us walk in peace like it says in Philippians 4:7 ‘and the peace of God, which passeth all understanding ,shall keep your hearts and mind through Christ Jesus’.kjv.

So that while others are racing against time battling with lifes drama and spending the greater part of their lives running around, we would be calm knowing who we are in
Christ (I am a partaker of his divine nature 2 Pet 1:3-4.kjv)
And this knowledge gives us the right to sleep when others lie awake late at night worrying .To walk relaxed when others are running in a hurry .To stop and savour the sweet fragrance of life while others perceive the fragrance of the mistakes they have made while they were in a hurry.

Quite a few themes here: hurrying, roses, bank accounts--I think this could be simplified a bit. But the message is strong by the end, and something we all need to heed.
