Health reigned in loved ones.
The job paid enough.
The children excelled.
The sun shone brightly.
God’s name was praised.
There was wisdom to share -
Ready answers for questions.
Every program hummed along
Just like it should,
But I blinked.
Just once.
And everything changed.
Clouds smother the sun.
The doctor wants more tests.
The company “downsizes”,
Cuts the job in half.
My son gets a D
My daughter is cut from the team.
One blink.
Answers don’t come now.
The blank blue screen
Of my life defies me.
What button can I push
To fix this?
Who hacked into my perfect world?
Who can I blame?
What horrible virus was sent my way and why?
I had protection enough:
Tithed faithfully,
Prayed daily,
Praised God
For my fine life.
I made good and sure
I was secure.
So what went wrong?
Who can I blame?
Who hacked into my perfect world?
A friend blames the devil.
Advises warfare prayer.
Offers to come over and “cleanse the house.”
Antidote for a virus.
Another smiles,
Suggests I inspect my life,
Asks about secret sin
And what I may have done
To open the door to such an attack.
Someone says it’s just my turn.
Life just happens.
Everyone has a theory.
Everyone wants to explain.
I crawl away to solitude -
Small, weary, helpless and hurt,
My Creator finds me there.
When you walk through the fire
I will be with you.
My grace is sufficient.
I get no answers.
I find no one to blame.
But I am new,
Deeper,
More abandoned,
Loved.
And Life is sweet.

It held me captive from the very first paragraph, to the very last word! Great job.
God Bless you~
I liked the hope left at the end.
