My husband and I were shopping in a one of those big box stores that sold everything from face cream to fish oil tablets, both providing me with that youthful glow. I was on the isle that had neither one of those products, but many other useful items, and I do like to explore those helpful products, in case there something I might need for the kitchen. My husband was an isle ahead, when I spotted a magnifying mirror on a stand. Interesting, I thought, let’s take a look. Now, what is wrong with that old person peering over my shoulder, in my space, looking in the same mirror? I turned around to ask them to please use another mirror since I was looking at this one. YIKES!--, there was no one behind me, which meant, all of that was me. No! since when did I have those deep bags, wrinkles and hangy things on my neck? And there was some black hair sticking out in places that had never been obvious to me.
I ran, to get my husband and said, this is $39.99, don’t ask questions, it is a must have. He said nothing but had kind of a smirk on his face, while I went to look for a berka, this store had everything, surely they must have one of those too.
When I set up the new magic mirror in my bathroom, I did a thorough job on plucking, pinching, using abrasive face cleaner, toner, more moisturizers, but the deep wrinkles were still there. I felt a little better but I know now that I had been fooled into believing I was looking much better than I was. All my facial faults were there all the time but I just did not see them. Now, I will always use that mirror each day to check myself before I go anyplace.
Actually, my face is the very least of my problems. I have many more problems, many that I can cover up some of the time, but the mirror that reflects and magnifies imperfections inside me, all the ugly stuff called sin, that needs to be plucked, scrubbed and abrasively removed from my life, is much more important than that much needed mirror.
I can only say; oh Lord, please expose the sin of pride, greed, envy, selfishness, and lack of trust in You. Make the remaining years of my life exposed to your magnificent magnification and give me eyes to see all that you expose to me, so that I will be a light to others of your love.
