Topic: Hotel/Motel (09/12/05)
No Ordinary Hotel!

They’re everywhere you go
Hiding here and there
Crawling up the tree outside
Or flying in the air!

Most people do not like them
Some are big and some are small
Hiding under the bathroom sink
“Someone, get the Lysol ®!”

Creepy is a word for them
Ladies are known to scream
Men try to stomp them down
Sometimes they’re in a team!

We rush to get the broom
We hurry for the spray
How about a fly swatter
To get them outta the way!

They’re feisty little guys
Fast on their feet!
Hiding in tight crevices
Oh, they just can’t be beat!

I finally found the remedy
How to catch this creepy bug!
A Roach Hotel®, this is it!
With a sticky gooey rug!

The box says, they’ll check right in
To see what it’s all about!
A cockroach guest he will be
But he won’t be checking out!

Cute, however, the 4th. and 6th. stanzas revert to 1st. person and the balance of the poem is 3rd person, makes for an uncomfortable jump.

Hate to see the poor little guys that inspired this! Now they know not to mess with you! lol Very fun take on the topic! Could almost see you doing your twirly little dance as you celebrate victory over your little adversary!

It's fun, fresh and awesome. Need just a little tweak to make it specifically Christian though. Ewww... I won't be sleeping to hot tonight though...

Pam, I actually liked this. I thought it was a very cute, but kind of "icky" take on the topic - very out of the box (we had two "bug's points of view, but no roach motels). I've left a post on the FaithWriters' message boards about comments made on recent entries about the christian point of view. That just means that the hero of the piece shouldn't be doing something that is against Christian beliefs, and getting away with it. Or have a message that contradicts Christian beliefs. This was just a bit of creative writing and a bit of fun that didn't fall outside the guidelines. Love, Deb (Challenge Coordinator)
