One day I found a dusty book
And when I opened it to take a look
I heard things that I had never heard before.
They seemed to favor one man’s life
They spoke about the grief and strife
And how he came to be a King and rule one day.
It seemed so strange as I read on
That one who would sit above all Thrones
Should be rejected and despised by his own kind.
I could not understand this kind of treatment
They only found him guilty of his love.
An echoing cry of anguish, thundered from above.
The words that next I read, caused me to tremble
Then an ache began to grow down deep inside
I heard him barely whisper, “ it is finished”--then he died.
His purpose and his plan were oh, so simple.
“You know He gave his life, to set all sinners free?”
I fell down on my knees, these words—speaking--to me.
My heart cried out, “I beg you to forgive”—
The pain that You have suffered was just so I may live.
His peace that I had never known, now in my heart resides.
This book no longer gathers dust I read it every day
Without these precious words of life, how could I find my way?
They come alive and give me strength; yes in these pages I will stay.
So when life’s burdens—their weight too much to bear,
I take the book known as God’s word, then let his river flow
Then all is well, he comforts me and floods my thirsty soul.
If I could not daily read, from what was once a dusty book?
Then never could my heart rejoice, that the cross for me he took.
Yes my friend--I have become--a reader of THE BOOK!

Great job, and very "on topic."
