It had been years since I’d seen one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Well, it really isn’t one of the Seven Wonders of the World; at least I don’t think it is. If not, it should be!
As a child I frequently traveled with my grandparents, to visit relatives, who lived in St. Catherine’s, Ontario, Canada. I recalled our sight-seeing trips to popular attractions: the Floral Clock, the Whirlpool Aero Car (which scared me as a child), the Maid of the Mist and the Scow Barge. The barge has been grounded along the Niagara River near the Horse Show Fall since 1918.
I’ve observed the panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean and the breath taking Bridal Veil Falls in Yosemite, as it cascaded 619 feet below. I’ve enjoyed recreation on the lake and boat rides on the beautiful clear waters of Tahoe. Each of these places has its own wonder, but none compares to the mighty roar of Niagara Falls.
Memories flooded my mind as my husband and I walked the sidewalk along the stone parapet. As a child, I would race down a trail that led to the edge of the Niagara River. Then I waited for the adults to arrive. We rode the old, rickety, white cable car that transported people over the whirl pool, downstream from the falls. I always feared the weight of the people would cause the floor to give way and we’d crash to our deaths. Ponchos were a necessity on the Maid of the Mist boat ride. What a thrill to be so close to the falls and hear the roar of the water.
Of all the three falls: Horseshoe, American, and the Bridal Veil; Horseshoe Falls is my favorite. One day, nothing will compare. When I behold Him … my Savior, my Friend, my Advocate, my Shepherd; I’ll see him face to face. “What a day that will be!” … Wow!
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.”
Psalms 19:1-2 NIV

There were punctuation errors that, if edited, would bump this piece up quite a bit.
Perfect title, and wonderful revelation at the end--well done!
