Topic: It's a Colorful World (12/03/09)
The color of my skin does not explain who I am. I am however affected by how you view the hue of my body. So when you take the time to really examine me closely, you will see that I am much more than the product of my race. I am a culmination of life experiences and education. I am an evolved human being capable of great heights and accomplishments. I am a creature created for the joy and benefit of my Creator. I am everything that I should be. I am special. I laugh, I cry, I experience great joy or sorrow as does every human being. I am part of a community of people who take great pride in living life to the fullest. I give to the poor and needy. I am a leader in my country. I stand for justice and represent all women in this great land. No matter where we come from we all have dreams. Opportunity is there and I embrace it whole-heartedly! I will reach my potential because I am persistant. Whether my skin happens to be brown or white, it makes no difference. Brown is beautiful and sometimes called black. It doesn't matter. The color of me is not who I am! I am strong and courageous. I am a woman.

Fine prosaic oratory with a hint of feminine chauvinism or liberalism....and much like a manifesto performance. Would have loved if you developed a more sublime theme like John Oxenham's, 'In Christ There Is No East Or West', with further stresss on the manifold colours of a man's skin. I also observed the words..."I am an 'evolved' human being". I would have preferred, for a site like FW developed to build the Christian Faith, words like...re-created, renewed, regenerated, re-born or born again... to that 'evolved'. You may like to view my poem in the Critique Circle titled, 'Count The Stars And Number Sand'. Nice reading your work!

I liked the descriptive words you used to create a picture of yourself. However, I would have liked to know how faith has helped to shape you.
