I consider my room to be my sanctuary. It is the only place on the planet that I feel completely comfortable. The decorations describe me as a crazy, outgoing person, as well as my Christian beliefs and “the deeper me,” who likes different kinds of sports yet loves to be girly as well. Curious about the life I live? I suggest for you to enter my room and find the real me.
The first thing I notice is the purple color on the walls. My room is rectangular in shape, and it is somewhat neat. The comforter is a mellow greenish-purple color, scattered with an occasional hibiscus flower. The big, fluffy purple pillows are soft as a newborn baby’s skin at the touch. The bed is my favorite part of the room, for it is the center of my thoughts and dreams.
As I sit down on the plush bed, I notice the eye-popping colors of the table that houses many of my blankets. The purple, lime green, blue, pink, orange, and yellow, brighten my room like a rainbow. The tiles of the table top host about fifteen classmates’ names with different drawings. I will treasure this piece of furniture forever.
I then turn my attention to the most used part of my room. The far right corner houses the faded black, outdated T.V. that isn’t so pretty when it’s not on, but when the sound from a musical movie or the action of a football film comes on, the T.V. is just right for me.
As I turn to look at my dresser, as messy as it is, it’s probably the most organized place in my room. A picture of a friend and me in a purple frame adorns the far left side of the dresser. My blue box of makeup sits right beside the picture, and its content contains the secrets of my appearance. What amuses me is that the makeup I use is sitting right in front of the blue makeup box!
My two jewelry boxes sit on the far right side of the dresser. The smooth, brown, fat jewelry box is home to all of my rings, earrings, and bracelets. On the top of this jewelry box has the words “Love, Daddy 2006” inscribed on a silver accent. Most of my jewelry is in this box. The other jewelry box is brown, skinny, and adorned with gold accents. This jewelry box holds only my necklaces. Maybe now you can visualize where I become beautiful in the morning.
Now I look to my right to see my nightstand. The purple and black clock has a built-in radio that I listen to often. I hear the song “Seven Things” blasting through the speakers and it makes me want to dance. In front of the clock are a number of books piled high where I can get to them quickly. The majority of these books are by the author Nicholas Sparks.
I finally look around to see the artwork on the walls. Behind me are three separate paintings of colorful flowers at the head of my bed. In front of me are a penguin calendar and a coat of armor that I drew in the sixth grade. Beside the colorful table is my “Cha Cha Sisterhood” hat, and drawings I did when I was younger of mountains and a sun setting behind a lake, all having the color of purple throughout.
Above the table of my classmates, a white box with shelves hangs as it holds the knick knacks I have picked up throughout the years. Some of these knick knacks include a rock from the bottom of a Tennessee River, an Eskimo doll from Alaska, a couple of pieces of drag racing memorabilia, and some projects I created in Sunday school. These things show where I have been and what I love, and I am glad I can show them to the world.
As you can now see, my purple room defines every part of me. Everything I have in my room shows the world who I am under my skin. Hopefully your curiosity has taught you a little more of the real Brittany.
