Autumn once again falls upon our calendar. A season meant for harvest of the field and the home garden. The final end to summer heat is in the air. The crisp chill nights and the bright near perfect days have arrived. The trees begin to turn to their awesome colorful foliage. Leaves then fall, and must be raked into piles just right for children diving into and thrashing about.

Summer draws to a close and faces turn pink from the chill of autumn nights. People go about their business as usual. Wood must be laid in for the fireplace. Cars must be tuned for their winter rigors. Warm coats and sweaters must be gotten. School clothes have to be ready for the first day. The children wear their new clothes the first day of school. Clothes that will most likely be showing some tear by mid term. Adults pull more clothing from the back of the closet to be ready to wear.

The scariest garb is yet to come. Halloween, the spookiest day of the year, is in the fall. Trick or treaters can go all out scary. They can be ghosts always a favorite. A blood thirsty pirate is good. The Frankenstein monster stalks the streets. A witch's coven is an alternative. They can always brew up some toil and trouble. Last but not least that old blood sucker Dracula. Yes, the kids can certainly hope for a big candy haul dressed to scare.

Harvest time is a time for reflection and comfort. Beneath the harvest moon people can relax with a cup of hot cocoa in front of a nice warm fire going in the hearth. A time for the entire family to enjoy the weather and each other's company.
