Swirling around
drowning out sound.
Untouched and beautiful, fresh and pure
A canvas for sure
For children to score.
The "Snow Day" is finally here
Mom digs out the winter gear
That’s been stored away all year.
Watching for daylight's illumination,
Children wait in anticipation,
To grab their sleds for the celebration...
Pretty snow angels and snowball fights,
Boys and girls in clothes too tight
Laughing and cheering as sleds take flight.
Excitement rises in little eyes-
Igloos and snowmen are the prize
Of a day well spent under snow gray skies.
Boots, hats, mittens, and snow suits too-
litter the floor, all soaked through.
Mom's got warm clothes waiting for you.
Snuggled up by the fire place
Steamy hot chocolate warms their face.
Mug in hand, the chills erase.
Winter's brought the snow our way.
Thankful, to the Lord I pray:
Please...just one more “Snow Day“!
Being the mother of four grown children, I often reminisce about special childhood moments. Snow days will always hold a dear place in my treasure chest of memories. At the time, those days always felt a bit overwhelming , with kids in and out and a continuous pot of hot chocolate brewing; but the light in my children’s eyes at the prospect of a day full of adventure, made all the chaos and clutter of on again off again boots, hats, and gloves, well worth the effort.
