Oh if our lives could but imitate the ambitions of our childhood years
Ever seeing the realities of a child’s hopes and dreams through many set backs and many tears
Learn hard learn well that’s what we’ve been told
Although we think it will be easy once we are old
How true that may be if we would just believe
Placing our delight in our Father who'll give us all that we need
Remember the days when everything seemed so big and so tough
When we would rely on a four-leafed clover to bring us good luck
It was the premature development of our childlike faith
Not knowing the business of life would soon speed up our pace
Robbing us of our dreams and ambitions
Drowning out the freedom we had as children losing sight of our visions
Oh to return to the days of our innocence of evil before our teenage years erupted
Stepping out into a world of independence self satisfaction and minds ever corrupted
The years that seemed to mold endless personalities into seeming controversies with no end
Living separate secret lives with smiles on our faces hiding the chaos inside this is real life not pretend
These years have ways of robbing us of our integrity stripping and leaving us for dead
Oh the sad agonizing memories and all the tears our eyes have shed
Leading us into our adulthood with brokenness shame and burnt bridges
Feeling too ashamed to turn to the so-called religious
Jails institutions and death was all the awaited
When you take a look into a broken life it seems that’s all that’s equated
Yet there’s a true story of a Savior who was baptized in the Jordan to take away all the sin of the world
One who could clear consciences and bring clarity to confused minds that have been twisted and twirled
The One who took all our sins shortcomings and failures to the cross and was judged and condemned for everyman women and child
His name is Jesus Christ the name above all names His love runs abundantly wild
He heals the wreckage our past present and future giving us a brand new heart
We become born again; all the experiences of our past if we let God use them give us purpose and a brand new start
Nothing in this life is done in vain if we would just let the Potter do His work; behold old things have passed away and all things become new
Let our lives rest in the hands of the One who’s honest and true
Trust in the One who plotted our lives from the very beginning of time
With our lives in His hands we can rest assure, everything will be fine.
