God had a plan, a masterful majestic plan. Every vision implemented and detail completed according to His divine specifications.
Using divine blue prints, everything in creation was purposely placed and given a name. In addition, everything was given a shape and color. There was order to everything.
Have you ever looked out of your window during a flight and just looked at the earth below?
It is amazing the shapes, colors and terrain you see! I am awed ever time I see it! It’s picture perfect! God decided the color of the sky and the height of the mountains. He separated the water from land and determined exactly where the sea touches the shore. In His majesty, He created the hues that transition day in to night.
That is divine order.
God also carved out an atmospheric blessing that we enjoy call seasons, another level of His order. Separated in to four equals, they deliver unparalleled but unique splendor.
Summer is one fourth of that unique splendor. There is definite magic to it! It is the time of year that we get full sun (at least on this side of the world!) It is a friendly season when we take most of our family vacations. We shed our clothes for swimwear and our stuffiness for freedom! Summer is fabulously liberating!
There’s no accident with summer! Just like God’s blue prints, everything we do in summer is deliberate. We make superb plans and usually stick to them!
Unlike the other 3 seasons, we seem to be ready for new adventures and new challenges in summer. It is a season of new chapters. Just as summer arrives, it’s like being on the cusp of something predestined with endless possibilities.
Something in you comes alive, something you’re looking forward to. The best you emerges in summer. Your whole personality blossoms during this special one fourth of the year.
Preparation for summer normally is an all time high. You’re phoning friends for the lunch dates and the back yard cook outs. You are texting the grandkids to let them know you are ready for their 2-4 week sabbaticals with you. (Their parents are certainly ready!)
You have your summer wardrobe for all your additional activities you’ve planned. Your favorite sandals from last year and several pairs of shorts that you just cannot make it through the season with out!
There is always summer reading too. You naturally feel smarter in summer so you pick several books for entertainment just before you turn in each night!
Oh, not to forget the summer edible delights! Has fruit ever tasted so good? No. And do you know why? Because it is summer!
The Lord directs our steps directly in to a carefully laid out season to bring us to a place of relationship and fellowship with each other.
It is no coincidence that summer is relationally described as a season of commitment and satisfaction.
That’s why we choose summer to be all that we can be, to be more than we thought we could ever be. Perhaps to be closer to whom we really need to be! The one who created this special one fourth of the year!
