Tossed about by giant waves of despair.
The world around me calling me calls my name,
Sings siren songs of worry, songs of shame.
Alone I seem, like the silver moon,
Hollowness of my heart echoes, like sounds in an empty room.
I retreat, I hide away!
Hoping no more to see the fading light of day,
For it reveals my turbulent visage,
My constant conflict with the gods of this age!
Then, before I’m overtaken by the chaos,
A voice cuts through the consuming blackness;
‘Come home!’
The voice speaks a new song to me,
From the darkness within, setting me free.
And then the feral shadows are broken through,
Light, like molten iron into my heart anew
When I retreat into the refuge that is you.
The reaching shadows fall as your voice whispers truth
And though the myriad voices still call to me within your cocoon,
Wailing like werewolves under a full moon,
I find peace, I’m safe and secure.
As you speak softly, I rise, I soar,
I am lifted above it all
To see your divine plan; how you won’t let me fall!
So that I’m able to emerge once more
With feet firmly planted on the floor.
The victory is yours, you’ve settled the score
And I step again into the world; I soldier on!
