Finds no time for the Lord
Their Bibles on a shelf-
God’s scriptures are ignored
Love of this world below
Consumes most ev’ry thought
True worth some do not know
Can not be sold or bought
People may measure life
By things that they possess
But soon they’re filled with strife
And overwhelmed by stress
Even with all that’s owned
They long for something more
Why do I feel alone?
Some begin to implore
Not knowing that the cause
Is a cold, empty heart
So many will with drawl
As their world falls apart
But wait there is a hope!
To save you from yourself
A way that folks can cope
That bible on your shelf!
Take it down, be enticed
Open it up and read
Friend, you’ll find Jesus Christ
Is all you truly need
Ask him into your heart
Consume his every word
And soon self will depart
As faith in Christ is stirred
Emptiness will be gone-
Eyes set on things above
As more and more you’re drawn
To the fullness of God's love

People may measure life
By things that they possess
But soon they’re filled with strife
And overwhelmed by stress
Unfortunately, I sometimes get caught in this trap. Thanks for the reminder!
