Topic: Before and After (05/14/09)
Sometimes it seems difficult to believe God for the healing we need. Intellectually we know He is able to heal yet we may have trouble mustering up the faith to receive the answer to our prayers. When Jesus walked the earth, He told some of the recipients of His miracles that they would be healed by their faith. It occurred to me one day that receiving healing is much like the process of salvation. A person that comes to God with a repentant heart seeking forgiveness and change is not asking God to come up with a plan to accomplish this. Instead, that person looks back to something that occurred before they were even born. Salvation takes place after the work of Christ has already been done; the Cross is a finished effort. We need only to apply His Sacrifice to our individual lives as the Bible instructs to obtain the benefits.
Isaiah 53:5 states that “....with his stripes we are healed.” (King James Version) When we pray for healing, we really are not asking God to do something new. That brutal scourging that Christ took had meaning in every painful moment. God knew the diseases, injuries and illnesses we would face before they occurred in our lives. Just like He had a plan to save His People, He made a way for those who would live after Jesus’ time to be healed. We do not have to have mountain moving faith to believe that Jesus was wounded and bruised and beaten. The Word tells us so. God knew the needs of man that would come after His Christ, so He provided the solution before it was necessary. The idea is to tap into what has already been done for us so that the healing can manifest in our lives. The price been paid for us to be physically, emotionally and mentally well. God does not have to come up with a means to heal us. We need merely to receive the gift that Jesus gave to us through His suffering so many years before and allow it to be applied to our lives today.

Interesting topic and informative article. Thank you for sharing your slant on God's healing powers. Some editing here would develop a smoother reading, such as sentence structure and paragraphs.
