She looks at the models in the tiny clothing they are advertising for one or other designing label. And in her heart she yearns to be like them, to walk into any shop and buy what ever. To find love in her life, as men today only looks at the outside it does not matter to them how you are on the inside. And she knows she will be happy then.
She is startled by a raspy voice suddenly speaking next to her.
“ The media today can fool people into thinking what every they want. Take those models for instant.” The old woman sitting text to her said, wile pointing at the models smiling back at them from the page.
“ How many of those models do you think are happy?”
But before she could answer the old woman continued.
“ None I tell you, they all have eating disorders, they hate the wolfish men running after them with empty promises and harts. And If you really think they are that perfect naturally you are mistaken, either plastic surgery or computer magic.”
The woman could just stare amazed at this old woman not knowing how to respond to this strange phenomenon of a stranger talking like this.
“ Take you for instant you are a beautiful young woman with natural curves and beautiful skin. It is not difficult for people to see that you look after yourself. But I can see the longing in your eyes when you look at those pictures, and I can honestly say dear please don’t go there.”
Blushing the woman asked the old woman;
“But aren’t our body’s suppose to be a temple of God?”
The old woman smiled a warm and understanding smile.
“ That is how it is written in the bible, but it is not specified on how one should keep the body a temple of God. See this is the common mistake people make they punished there bodies to braking point so that they can be thin or build more masculine. But answer me this; where do you think God would want to live?”
The woman pondered before answering;
“In our hearts.”
“Aaah, Yes. But is that the bodies hart?”
“No, it is not meant literally.”
“ Precisely my dear, who is to say that what is written in the bible was not supposed to be taken up literally. The temple of God is not the body in the sense of the word that we understand it. It is mend as a person’s soul, which is what should be clean and open for God to live in. Remember a person’s body stays on earth after he or she is dead. It turns to dust but the soul lives forever. A person should be healthy yes and look after there body as it is the only one we have. But we should do what makes us happy and healthy. To be thin is the worlds notion of health it does not make it the truth.”
After the woman left the doctors office with another clean bill of health she sat in her car looking at her before picture she let take this morning at the place she joined to loose weight. She smiled and looked up at the mirror of her car and the after picture she sees there makes her happy and warm inside. It is almost as if she is shining the love of God and the love she feels for herself out onto the world.
She could not believe she wasted so much time to perfect her body on the say so of other people, where she could have been praising God for her good health and rater be working on making her soul better for God to live in.
