Finally, after a long day of yearning for it, I reach my bed. I love that my electric blanket has a timer and has warmed my spot for me at just the right time. The covers gently fall around each part of my body as I slip under them. The weight of them soothes the frayed nerves of the day. The pillow is cool and soft and nestles my cheek as I settle on my side. Expecting to immediately drift away, I sigh deeply.
Did I lock the door?
Yes, I locked the door.
Did I close the garage door?
Yes, I closed the garage door.
I hope I remembered to call that client back...oh yes, I did.
Finally quiet falls over my mind.
Until...
I'm worried about my friend's safety. When I saw her today she spoke of presenting danger to herself. What if she does something to herself. I could be responsible, I could have done more to protect her. Should I call her?
I should pray for her. I didn't pray today. I never pray. Its not that I don't want to pray, it's just that it doesn't come to mind throughout the day. That's wrong isn't it? I should pray now. God, I really don't want to talk about this now. Can I just go to sleep now and talk to you tomorrow?
This is the hard truth, I am a piece of dingy, dented metal, useless in the eyes of most. I need much refining to become silver. I want to be silver for you God.
From the now warm and perfectly sunken mattress, I lift my weak and tired body. Bending down to rest on my knees, I know one day I will be God's silver.
