When my son gets his feelings hurt, I open my purse. There I find a tissue to wipe away his tears.
"I, even I, am He who comforts you... ” (Is 51:12)
When my son is thirsty, I open my purse. There I find a water bottle to refresh him.
"He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'" (John 7:38)
When my son is hungry, I open my purse. There I find a granola bar to fill him.
" I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger…” (John 6:35)
When my son is bored, I open my purse. There I find paper and a pen for him to draw with.
“…the Spirit gives life.” (2 Cor. 3:6)
When my son needs strength, I open my purse. There I find vitamins to strengthen him.
“The LORD is my strength…” (Ex. 15:2)

Perhaps you could consider expanding this, either by adding more examples or by expanding each example. You could also consider making this into more of a story, with dialogue... Have the son ask for each object and then search through the purse. Just some ideas.
