Do you remember what it was like to be 3years old? Let me remind you. In a 3 year olds mind, she is a princess; ruler of her world. However, honestly, everyone, even strangers submit to her, paying attention to her newfound words and songs and running about to do her bidding. Her heart is full of perfect joy. She awakes with a song on her lips, spends her days playing and sleeps with a smile lingering on her lips. Death, hurt, brokenness, loss are fleeting mysteries to her happy heart. Her will is a will of steel. She will have the “chicken please” but not the broccoli. Her mind is at perfect peace. She does not concern herself with worrisome, fearful thoughts like paying the mortgage, impressing people, passing the exam, or that strange spot on her skin. And should a thunderstorm arise, she runs into her fathers arms where she knows she is absolutely safe, until the storm passes. Such is the life of a 3year old.

I believe that this is what Jesus meant when He said that of such, referring to children, is the Kingdom of God. Mark 10:14. The Kingdom of God is not a place, or a group of persons, or a list of rules. The Kingdom of God is a deep trusting relationship between a wonderful Heavenly Father and His children. Yes every relationship has principles but this one is based on His love for us that is so strong that nothing can separate us from it and that is so deep that His Son willingly demonstrated it for us on the cross. This amazing relationship is completed when we realise that we are His children and we ought to live like His Children. As His Children, we are princes and princesses, rulers over circumstances in our lives, not victims of a sinful world. Our hearts are filled with perfect joy that flows from His Presence living inside us. This joy gives us strength against every hurt that wants to break us. Our wills are wills of steel. We know that the Word of God, our Father’s Ways and Will are the best for us. We will not have anything of the system of the world even if, like broccoli, they say it is “good for us”. Our minds are at perfect peace because our Father is our Provider, our Jehovah Jireh. He will provide the job. If the salary is insufficient, He will lessen the expenses or provides us with gifts as we sow seeds. He will bring relationships in our lives that build us up, not tear us down. He will bring healing. Most comforting is that when a storm arises from the outside, from people who are not in relationship with Him, who are not part of the Kingdom of God, we know we can run into our Father’s Arms and be still; allowing the storm to pass knowing that, whatever is taken or broken, we are safe and well and our “rising up again” is definite.

Simplistic? Unreasonable? Children are simplistic. They simply trust. Our Heavenly Father calls us to know Him, to know His personality so well that we place the same trust, belief, sense of knowing, faith, in Him. In everything that we do, we trust Him to guide us, to be the sure beginning, and we trust Him that it will work out well, to be the happy ending. The Bible says that to the natural mind the things of God are foolishness. So, yes, we cannot “reason” the way our Father Loves and Favours us. But this is the Kingdom of the Most Amazing King and this is how He loves all the constituents of His Kingdom, His very own children.

So today, quit, hand in your resignation to, the system of the world. It is a system of worry, fear and unending toil. Come into a Father-Child relationship with the Heavenly Father. Come into a life full of peace, love and joy that according to the Word of God, is beyond understanding but is so real. Come and find a life that is wholesome and full of expectation and hope for the Fathers good plans to be fulfilled in you. Come and be safe, in your Fathers Arms.
